Founded: 1886 by Charles Hebert; initially named Sealis, CA after the Hubert Sealis family, who owned a large farm on the property. The name was changed in 1971 to Buena Beach after Louis and John Sealis, the great-great-great grandsons of Hubert, were busted for pedophilia, cocaine smuggling, mail fraud, and running an underage prostitution ring.

Interesting fact: The 26 streets running east to west in the Beach Estates neighborhood each begin with a different letter of the alphabet and run in alphabetical order. Xylophone street is the longest.
